Buyers Guide
Providing the Webs most prolific insurance related domain names available for lease, or joint venture partnership.
Why owning the right premium domain name catapults business, saves money.
Domains are a location or address on the web, and every domain name is a piece of real estate. Along with any property address, each has a value. This main variable in the equation is as true in offline real-estate as it is online…Location, location, location! Given the choice many would choose big beachfront or highrise type property. Low supply and high demand drive this market the same as any. For business, (especially shopping) its no secret that a main street equals high traffic. Yet visibility is key. Online real estate and it’s address, (or url) is no different.
Further, a higher traffic area having people actually looking for what service or product you provide separates how hard you will have to work or pay, (in form of marketing) to earn bottom line generated sales revenue. When a brick and mortar physical location, it is important to be in a very high traffic or target rich, robust area synonymous with high rental/purchase, specifically due to that reason.
There is no difference in online virtual real-estate versus tangible. Simply searching for a name by ‘making one up’ til an availability is found (like so many that have already mistakenly done), or having a name that is complex, or even having a name simply since it may be a business name (unless your a carrier) is not what people are searching for when going to Google/Yahoo/Bing-and neither would you. Taking the mindset of yourself as a potential client is how you should view it, it is then clear to see why certain domains will or will not work. With a domain address that doesn’t define a consumer’s search, will only net you low traffic and very few leads. Consumers either search for a product or service to compare against especially if they are new buyers with no company to do business with yet. If you are in business, unless you are not looking for new customers, this should be your main focus. If you are paying for ads and marketing to acquire business, and your business is online, you need to capture an exact match keyword rich name. If new potential clients don’t get to you on search engines you’ll just wind up getting free marketing from whats known as ‘direct type in traffic’.
Course of action?
Plan A- Buy leads if do not have great domain or Plan B, get the right domain and have type in traffic and seo assistance for exact match and build consumer confidence all while increasing quality score and click through ratio.
Imagine being located in a city, and your auto insurance office was in a plaza that got medium traffic of passerbys. As an example, you might pay $2000-3200 for rent, do some business of course, but advertising/marketing you’d have to pay for in order to drive more people looking for auto insurance and this comes at an extra cost. You could go out and market door to door, or something similar, or you could work smart and invest in a place located right next door to perhaps a D.M.V. that has high traffic and more potential for customers. You could pay even more if you had a place next to the DMV across from the ‘auto mile’, and so on. Of course with more exposure comes more expense but that foresight is an investment that pays off. Now imagine the value of a bulletin board on a busy interstate. That would be great if you had that costly expense at a few hundred to a few thousand a day. Tv commercials, radio ads, newspaper etc. will be an ongoing (and non ownership) cost but the right premium domain name would potentially be paying back to you daily at a much more affordable payoff.
So if you had to do it all over again would you choose an available second rate (more like 7th rate) name, or maybe your existing domain you have? If given the chance, over 90% have said they would choose a more favorable name. More traffic equates to more opportunities to sell. This is smart investing. Wake up knowing that you have exclusive leads every morning. Owning a category killer like insurance.com or maybe healthinsurance.com perhaps is now a bit out of reach, but you’d stand a crack at the highest traffic. Just how much? Try 165,000 people a month searching for exactly that term in Google search alone, not a broad search at 4,000,000 but rather exact type in search. What would you do for that traffic of potential leads? This does not include Yahoo, Bing Ask or others, and with the health care reform upon us, search is expected to be millions more!
While those particular names like insure dot com or insurance.com sold for $16 million and 35 plus million dollars, it displays clearly the value of a proper domain as an equitable asset. Recognition of other web names are very feasible and available for sale. A one time investment pays dividends for years to come. In a multi billion dollar industry can you afford not to separate yourself from the competition?
The value of a domain name
Cost of lead purchase is tremendous from as little as $3-7 for a shared to $20 plus for exclusive or live transfers on health insurance. Medicare can be well over $50. Getting them organically is far less expensive from seo. The right name can get you higher traffic and conversions. The right web site can yield credibility and confidence in purchase. A mere 83 leads derived from a site per month for a single agent will return about 1,000 leads per year. If monetized properly from an existing entity can build leads unlimited. At cost of only a small amount per lead the savings in owning a domain would pay off very quickly and for many years to come. An agency purchases thousands of leads per year. The cost can be astronomical and never ending as a cost of doing business. The return on investment from the lead ratio warrants the cost paid per lead. The proper domain can provide thousands of leads literally per month, and at the cost of leads, savings and or compensation from sales makes it is very easy to see why domains turn a higher ROI more than any other investment including gold and offline realestate. Fact.
Having the right domain means the World…wide web.
Domain names are online real estate bottom line. For those that recognized this early on in the early 90’s were able to capitalize, but what about you, are you too late? Well if you plan on positioning yourself from a brick and mortar local agency to something more, then it is of course to late to hand register since all the good domains are already taken. You do have a course a Golden Ticket if you wish to pay for a premium domain existing and have instant traffic tomorrow should you have the capital to capitalize. Some domains are more in reach financially than you think or have financing options. If not, then you can lease domains at one of the only locations on the web, if cant purchase outright. Think you can find a better name yourself? Chances are there is a reason why the name is available to register. Online sales prove that daily with millions of dollars sold weekly for these names. Yes, weekly. Online sales can be about stepping out of your city and welcoming the potential of millions to your doorstep as defined as a geographic state or as much as nationwide for those that wish to online rather than just offline and be limited. If you’re already online and have a great domain and not producing leads daily you either need consultation services to find out why your not optimizing it properly, or you do not have a great domain as our pride would have us believe. Throwing money into a domain must be worth it. Optimizing cost of the very same keywords of a category are exactly the same as a poor domain (or less with quality score) but the results of clicks to your poor name site will yield you less return. Fact.
What to look for in choosing a domain name
- Extension-It must be a dot com or .org in insurance field which shows authority or even a dot net. Any other extension will cause confusion or someone will go to your competitors site instead of yours…most likely the .com.
- Verbal test-Domain names should pass the telephone or radio test. This is often overlooked as in “visit us on the web at whatever hyphen insurance quotes dot com whatever-insurance.com = people leaving out the hyphen and your competitors get it instead.
- Searchable-It should be keyword rich and searchable to common user and closest to an exact match domain is best “Cancer Insurance Quotes” CancerInsuranceQuotes.com
- Descriptive and memorable-Keep it short if possible unless an industry term, i.g. “AlabamaInsuranceExchange.com” which is registered eight (8) years before the Obamacare affordable care act, or even brandable such as CompareObamaCare.com
- Having exact match (EMD) or type in traffic only improves chances and more traffic equals more leads. More leads conversion equates to more opportunities to close more deals. Leads are costly, so how much would you pay to get leads now or would you like to invest opting for online real-estate once and having the traffic in a matter of months for life and exclusive?
- Consumer confidence-For example purposes, if you are searching for cancer insurance rates would you be more likely to click on cancerinsurancerates.com or even eCancerInsurance.com versus theraymergroup dot com or stryker insurance dot net? If you wanted medicare advantage and you saw MedicareAdvantageInsurance.com you might be more inclined to visit rather than richlandmedicareparts dot com.(available at time of article)
- Should be search engine friendly- refer again to above examples. If someone types this keyword rich term someone seeks and yours contains it in the domain that is not only a plus for you SEO wise but also again for the consumer to click on since that is what they were searching for, encouraging consumer confidence and trust.
Common mistakes on choosing domain names
- Wrong extension-Choosing a domain outside of the popular already known. If the common person doesn’t know an extension or if you have to STRESS to person it is a dot uncommon (.me, .tel .mobi, .biz or something else uncommon) then know you are starting off with a challenge right out of the gate. Right of the dot is just as important as left of.
- Adding digits-Taking a domain that is already registered and throwing in a number. insurance4kids.whatever versus Insuranceforkids, or Floridahealthinsurance1.com just because it was available but means nothing and many hearing could and would likely type “one” rather than the number.
- Adding a hyphen- See adding digits. If you have to say the word ‘hyphen’ or ‘dash’ it is likely to not be remembered and will lose to the site that doesnt have that. Consider it free marketing your doing for someone else.
- Way too long or no meaning.
There are many other distinguishing factors as to the benefit of a premium domain name but it all begins with its location on the web. For those who are already in the know, Lead companies and online verticals such as Quinstreet.com, Bankrate.com, and other corporations like various carriers have already seen huge returns from their investments far beyond the commercial budget dollars spent elsewhere but with one important difference, they didnt wait, or did and paid the price later…monetarily. This is your second chance to start off the right foot with online real estate generic specific and/or nationwide and acting now will reduce your cost of paying for it later. This may be in the form of regret, less revenue with the wrong domain, or, buying it from or leasing it from someone much later. Remember online realestate in line with offline realestate increases in value with time.
With the right web address you might even be able to actually compete with some of the biggest carriers especially if people are online trying to shop for more than one quote and you as an agent who might offer that.
Health Care Reform
Health care reform love it or hate it, is the single biggest change to occur this century. Those that have recognized it can capitalize on the change and there is no better time to do so then the moment you are reading this. Don’t be timid as a broker on how to approach or compete with the reform as many have in droves to exit and will later come to regret the missed opportunity. Rather embrace it and recognize the potential as you being the conduit, and a proven and historically tested domain will change all that and prepare you for the best of what lies ahead. Millions upon millions will be looking to get coverage. Where are you listed under on the net for that? Congratulations, you have a second chance to make a first impression with a brand new industry…Health Insurance exchanges.
Supplemental Market
Seventy million people over the next 10 years will be searching for this and supplemental markets are strong. Critical illness insurance pays more than major medical for a small premium versus a mid to high premium health insurance with the wave of change in health care reform. Cancer insurance, accident health insurance, medicare, the supplemental market is thriving and while as much as fifty percent of the health insurance agents have exited the market place along with many health insurance carriers under mergers and acquisitions, it is now a brand new market now clear to ready, set, explode!
